It’s official – I’m giving it a shot.
I’ve quit my day job and I’m pursuing running my own event planning company full-time, at least for now. It was kind of a crazy decision to make, but I just really felt that I needed to try this. Maybe it won’t work and I’ll end up going crawling back to the corporate or nonprofit world… but at least in that case I’ll have tried.
So here I am, setting up shop at home, getting my website, social media, and paperwork in order, and trying to figure out exactly where to find clients that will want to hire me. And even though my future is uncertain, I do know one thing:
I’m extremely excited.
It’s been a little while since I felt this excited about anything work-related, so this is a really good feeling. I wake up every morning ready to take on the day – brainstorm new ideas, work with existing clients, and work on building my business. I love that I get to figure out what direction to take, even though that will probably sometimes mean just piecing together my income, at least for the first few months.
No matter what happens with this, I know I’m going to learn a lot in the next little while. So here’s to always learning. Here’s to stumbling but catching yourself before you fall. And here’s to taking chances.
