Being an entrepreneur is hard. Like, really hard. Every single day, you’re plagued by the realization that your livelihood relies on no one but yourself. You have to do the work. You have to hustle to provide for yourself and stand on your own two feet. All of this is difficult, but being an entrepreneur is also exciting and incredibly rewarding.
Right now I may be pinching pennies, working multiple jobs (some random, some event-related), and using all of my creative fortitude to get by, but I know that I am moving towards something. I now have the time and space to move on and up in my life, and to pursue new and exciting projects. For the first time, my future is full of possibility, and starting a business did that for me.
It’s official – I’m giving it a shot.
I’ve quit my day job and I’m pursuing running my own event planning company full-time, at least for now. It was kind of a crazy decision to make, but I just really felt that I needed to try this. Maybe it won’t work and I’ll end up going crawling back to the corporate or nonprofit world… but at least in that case I’ll have tried.
