At the beginning of June, I worked with a client on her husband’s birthday party. It was his 50th and that is a big year, so even though this is an annual event for them, she wanted to make this one even bigger and better! As a result, she chose a poker theme and decided to do a bit more with decor than usual. I addition, I brought in a food truck to cater the event so that they could both enjoy the day a little more.
I used mixed glassware and poker chips for the centerpieces, and created mats out of playing cards for them to sit on. I also made some playing card strings by gluing cards to twine which were used around the yard. Some were cut to say “Happy 50th Mike”! We put together a bunch of items for a do-it yourself photo booth (where we supplies the props, but guests take their own photos). In addition, I ordered a fabulous poker-themed cake, with a tiny bottle of Captain Morgan’s on it (the guest of honour’s drink of choice).

Have you ever thrown a poker-themed party? What else did you do to add a decorative touch?
